"The First Day of First Grade"
Today, Noah began first grade. We are very excited for him. His schedule is packed with lots of learning opportunities and fun. His general schedule includes math, history/geography, faith, read-alouds, language arts, science, music appreciation, art and physical activities. Next month, he will start a science class that runs until May. It will be with other homeschoolers and we hope that it will be fun (experiments and such). We are also hoping to spark his interest in Boy Scouts. Our local homeschool building has a group which we would like him to be a part of. Otherwise, we have a really great line-up for him.
Matthew is also starting light work. He is using "Explode the Code" for phonics and Catholic Heritage Curricula for Faith. We will be working on very basic pre-school stuff, but mostly rely on real-life to prepare him for kindergarten.
Olivia is growing like a WEED. She had an unexpected visit to the doctor last month and weighed in at 22lbs at 9mo. My little chunk. It just goes to prove that breastmilk is the best!
Which reminds me, World Breastfeeding Week begins today. You can support breastfeeding by supporting mothers who breastfeed or by BREASTFEEDING YOUR BABY! Breastmilk is unequivocally the best for baby (formula companies may want you to believe that they are 'just as good' but science and mother nature says differently).
